Preparation for Flood

Last year, we experienced the highest flood in our area. There was no typhoon, just heavy monsoon rains which lasted for about a week. 3 dams released their water because their limits were reached.

I was 6 months pregnant and that was my first time to experience having only 3 pitchers of water for 3 days, being me and my husband. It was very hard. Pregnant women tend to be thirsty more often. Our supply was flooded, though we had about 15 gallons. That was a big lesson for us. Now we made sure we have a lot of water upstairs.

We didn't run out of food. In fact, we had a lot. But water...
Malabon Flood 2013
That's our neighbor's house. But our apartment has similar design to it. So you can imagine how high the water is.

There are a lot of flooded areas in Luzon right now, and good thing we're not badly affected. We thought the water would rise high. It's 11:05pm and rain has stopped. Water has not reached our first floor yet.

Most of our appliances are now on the second floor. We don't want to spend a lot of money for repairs : ) Last year, some of our books got flooded so we decided to have the rest of them upstairs. Now we have a study room, instead of a changing room.

But because we only have 2 rooms, we had to put our valuables from the first floor in the study.
"The Mirror" we're not vain, but we know it's best to be presentable : )
Some water, condiments, rice, unfolded clean clothes. Our study's floor is covered with heat insulator.
A tall plates and utensils plastic cabinet. On the left-most part you can see a printer topped with some plastic holder.
Please excuse the messy board. Thanks!
Bags, plush toys, and exercise equipment.
No, we're not watching TV anymore. It's really in the study. But yeah, that's a water heater, rice cooker, and etc.

Overall, we're doing good and hopefully prepared enough for the next days.

Talking About Online Jobs

This post is for my friends who are interested in working online. I'm sorry for the delay. It took me almost 2 months to write this.
I take care of my baby alone, do housework, and at the same time juggle part-time jobs. One of those is working online. Much of my work online are spent on writing, but I have already illustrated, too.
How much do I earn?
Pay the bills and a little extra.
I always encourage moms to try working online because:
  • You don't have to spend for transportation toward an office/workplace.
  • You don't get taxed. Well unless you are a community manager or a virtual assistant who earns real big.
  • You work at your own pace, time, and comfort. (sorry for being real sleepy at times boss)
  • You don't have to put on some make-up and wear fancy clothes. Low maintenance izz...
In short, you get what you earn. No deductions.
WAHM philippines
There are disadvantages though:
  • You get to spend most of your time in front of the computer without actually doing something productive. You tend to think that you are doing work when you are just browsing social networking sites.
  • You forget to socialize personally. You end up just liking and liking posts in Facebook.
  • You rarely go out of the house. You miss sunshine.
  • No exercise. Become bigger.
  • Body clock changes especially when you are beating deadlines.
But overall, it's a good way of earning for me because I get to cuddle my daughter and attend to her needs all the time.
You can find almost all types of jobs in the internet. You can work as a writer, an illustrator, tutor, auditor, manager, etc. The most important thing is you get the job that fits from a LEGIT site. There are a lot of scammers out there, so be careful.
Below are websites recommended by GMA network:
You can also try:
Where do you start?
1. Get IDs. Check samples.
2. Get a Tax Identification Number (TIN). This is a pre-requisite when getting an EON card.
3. Apply for an EON card from Union Bank (P350). It is a debit card which you can use to get a    PayPal account or instead of a savings account.
4. Get a PayPal account. Almost all online jobs pay you through PayPal. Click here for more info.
5.Sign up for the websites listed above. Create a comprehensive profile. Let your potential clients know what you got. Post your portfolio, too!
Good luck!

I need a stylus

I played with Sketchbook, it's a drawing app. It was great with decent brushes to choose from even if it's not yet pro. No lagging but I think it's using a lot of the battery's power.

This is supposed to be a muffin, but then it looks like yogurt sprinkled with tiny chocolates.

Hope to get a stylus in a few months or days..+Sherwin Mervin Burton Lucas  :-)

My baby's standing!

Finally, my baby is now learning to stand on her own. After finding out that she could use her crib's wooden bars to pull herself up, she's now ever fascinated doing her new discovery.

Afternoons are more challenging as I juggle with my housework and taking care of her. But I feel blessed to experience these things, guiding her through and being taught by her purity.

Babies nowadays

I went down to prepare my baby's food and left her on our foam bed. We didn't want to get a real bed yet, since we have a plan to move to a new home soon. I left our laptop (open), as I was still working on an article for my part-time job, while my girl was busy playing with her toys.

It is I and my husband's routine to chat each other while he's at work (don't worry he's allowed to do it).

About 3-4 minutes later, I found a chat message sent to my husband from me.

8th month old baby using computer

It was really funny because our 8-month-old baby did it. And she even sent more than one. I guess babies nowadays are really different. I can't imagine how she figured out where ENTER was.

It was pure coincidental I know. And I guess some moms have experienced it, too.

When babies are teething

My daughter would have her upper two front teeth seen very soon. She has been fuzzy since yesterday. At first I thought she had an allergic reaction from yogurt after I had her taste a little. I went down to our first floor to wash her clothes, and heard her crying loudly. She had some reddish spots on her eyebrows. I panicked because she sounded in pain.

Good thing my husband called and comforted me. He then reminded that it was usual for our baby to get those reddish spots when she feels hot. He told me to turn on the air conditioner and see if the spots would go away. Minutes later, and after I had her settle down, the spots were gone. And she looked like nothing had happened.

Later, I noticed she felt warmer than usual. She was to get a fever. And I realized she was uncomfortable with her gums that she kept on biting her lower lip.

Today, she was fuzzy and would cry every ten minutes or so. It was hard for me to put her to sleep. She didn't get any since she woke up at 7.15am, until 3.45pm. She's sleeping right now but whenever I make some noise she would cry and would ask me to feed her.

So she could forget the pain, we played almost all day. She loves taking pictures, and we did :-)

She doesn't have an upset stomach. She's just fuzzy. She refused to use her teether. And it was also challenging to feed her. But I feel good knowing she's just doing fine. I mean it's normal for babies to get fuzzy when they are teething.

I can write even UPSIDE-DOWN

When I was in elementary, a college student was featured on TV for writing upside-down. He said he worked hard for that skill because most of his classmates would copy his answers during exams.

He was a smart student, a real target for those who were 'brain-hungry' exam-takers who failed to prepare well, for whatever reasons.

And so he succeeded with his plan shooing off those classmates. He would turn the test paper upside-down and answer it that way.

I just can't remember if he wrote in cursive.

I recalled the story in high school and tried to do it. (But am not that a brainer!! I just wanted to) And in college, kind of mastered it. Was able to use the skill effectively in teaching English to Koreans (one of my part-time jobs)
Teaching English to Koreans. Sitting face-to-face.

Due to some hearing issues, I decided to quit teaching online, but I can't stop my passion for teaching. In summer I and my husband accepted students for English and Mathematics. And now even though summer is over, we still got lessons, special request by parents :)

I still use my skill of writing upside-down, and here's the result:

My kid also want to do it. I let her be since it's also a good brain exercise.

And days ago I decided to make my upside-down handwriting into a real font. Follow this link if you want to download. It's free.
